How to Take Your Measurements

Let’s get this show on the road! The first step to a great fitting is making sure we know our measurements.

There are many measurements we can use to determine the size, shape and girth of our bodies, but there are three numbers that we need right off the bat to make sure we’re headed the right direction with our sweaters. You don’t have to be a professional tailor to get a good fit – you just need a measuring tape, decent lighting and a mirror so you can see what you’re doing. (A mirror can help you make sure you’re keeping the measuring tape horizontal and not letting it sag.)

If you have a trustworthy friend or family member that can help, even better!

Hold the measuring tape around the area you’re measuring so that it holds against the body, but isn’t tight.

Now that you have some numbers to get started, let’s take a closer look at the sizes available in your pattern.

Not all patterns are alike, so we’ll talk about a few different ways the sizing may be presented and how to navigate these different options. Download the file below to get started.
