Knit Camp at The Coast is unlike anything you’ve experienced online. We have virtual classes, a retreat pattern, recipes, cocktail hour, yoga stretch sessions, more classes, a virtual pizza party, coffee chats and special yarn-y discounts in our very own (tiny) retreat marketplace.

Every Member of Knit Camp receives a One-Day Friday Pass to attend all classes/activities on Friday, September 17th. (Included free with your membership – a $199 value.) But if you’d like even more….

Meet Our Instructors

Marie Greene

Marie Greene, founder of Olive Knits and Knit Camp, is a knitwear designer, instructor, and best-selling author of three knitting books, including Seamless Knit Sweaters in 2 Weeks. She’s also the creative whirlwind behind the annual 4 Day Knitalong and is the founder and publisher at Library House Press. Her cheerful, down-to-earth style makes learning delightful (and often hilarious). Marie specializes in seamless sweaters and creative confidence, nurturing knitters to stretch their comfort zones, try new things, and build community along the way.
 
Marie lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, two aloof kitties and a bumper crop of tomatoes.

Michele Lee Bernstein

Michele Lee Bernstein, PDXKnitterati, designs and teaches in Portland, Oregon. She loves designing accessories, especially if they use one or two skeins of very special yarn. She’s fond of texture (brioche, lace, entrelac, elongated stitches), and loves using interesting techniques to make small objects sing. Her patterns are available through Ravelry.com and Payhip.com Michele loves teaching knitters to be the boss of their knitting! She teaches at local yarn shops, fiber festivals (Vogue Knitting Live, Red Alder Fiber Arts Festival, Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival), guild meetings, and retreats.

Marceline Smith

Marceline is a Jamaica-born, Canada-raised fiber fanatic who lives in the southeastern US. Since 2005, her love of handmade found its center in knitting and crochet. Over the years she has been drawn into natural dyeing, spinning, knitwear design, and teaching. She thrives on the joy of creating, sharing, and community. Her aim is to build a Creative Collective through her Instagram and YouTube presence as Hey BrownBerry. You can find her at:

Shawna Clingerman

Shawna is a full time artist and educator with over 15 years experience creating art for companies like Illustrated Faith, American Crafts, Photoplay Paper, Paper House Productions and other major craft companies who have put her work on the shelves of stores across the globe. Shawna’s biggest passion is mentoring and teaching creatives how to create from an authentic, wholehearted place through her signature program: “Fearless Art”. She also offers multiple online courses in the subjects of art and design, hand-lettering, social media and more.
 
In addition to creating and teaching full time, Shawna loves to spend her time playing board games with her 4 teenage sons and husband of 21 years, and getting outside to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Pacific Northwest where she calls home.

Marcie Leek

Marcie Leek is so happy to return to Knit Camp at the Coast because she had such a wonderful time teaching (and attending!) last year. Marcie is a certified yoga instructor from Seattle, Washington with over 500 hours of training and over 1,200 hours of teaching experience. She owns her own business, Nourishing Breath Yoga, and teaches weekly Zoom classes to a variety of students from all over the world. 
 
Marcie is also an enthusiastic knitter, Knit Camper, and Project + Operations Manager for Olive Knits! In addition to her work with Marie and the Olive Knits team, Marcie offers weekly, chair-based yoga classes for knitters and manages the Yoga for Knotted Knitters YouTube channel. She is super excited to be a part of the Knit Camp at the Coast retreat and to teach you ways to keep your body supple, flexible, and strong so you can keep knitting Marie’s awesome patterns!

Amy Detjen

Amy has been an avid knitter for more than 40 years. Using equal parts knowledge, humor, and patience, Amy has been teaching knitting and talking/writing about knitting that whole time. She is also Meg Swansen’s assistant at Meg Swansen’s Knitting Camp. She also travels extensively, and has taught around the US, and a few times in Scotland and Shetland. Amy leads wonderful knitting tours to Shetland, Norway, Holland, Iceland, and other woolly places of interest.
Amy’s love of knitting comes through when she interacts with other knitters, whether in person, online, or in writing. Her enthusiasm is truly contagious, and she breaks new techniques down into small bits making learning a breeze. Amy is co-author of two knitting books – “Sweaters from Camp” and “Knitting with Two Colors”, both published by Schoolhouse Press.

Heather Best

Hello Friends! My name is Heather Jane, and I’m the owner and Happy Color maker for Sew Happy Jane Hand Dyed Happy. I’m inspired by the world around me to dye yarn using creative techniques and the best materials I can source to make your work shine. I’m a food motivated traveler who loves a good garden, an excellent book, and the sea. You’ll find those things often inspire my work.
 
I’m looking forward to turning some pretty skeins into some Pretty Amazing skeins with you during the Knit Camp at the Coast Retreat.
