Welcome to the Knit Camp 5 Year Anniversary Afghan! We’re celebrating FIVE YEARS of Knit Camp in 2024, and this year-long project will give us a chance to celebrate together, a little at a time, and create a beautiful commemorative blanket.

This celebratory project is designed to be knit in a series of blocks, with one new block pattern per month (available on the first of each month). Each block is designed to be knit twice, with the colors alternated. By the end of the year, you’ll have 24 blocks – and instructions to put them together (with additional details about the 25th block for the center).

  • Approximately 58 x 58 in (145 x 145 cm)

FAQ

Can I use a different weight yarn? Of course! Using lighter weight yarn will result in smaller blocks, and using heavier weight yarn will result in larger blocks. You may need to adjust your yardage accordingly.

What if I want to use more than two colors? No problem! You’ll need to adjust the yardage to include additional colors, but feel free to make yours as colorful as you’d like!

Can I see all the blocks? Each new block will be revealed on the first day of the month when the new pattern is released. Each month’s block will be added to your download library automatically, so just check your downloads and open the file to see the new page added to the end of the pattern.

Will you show us how to put the blocks together? YES! At the end of the year, we’ll have a live Zoom “Block Party” where I’ll show you how to put your blocks together with me in real time. And if you can’t join us live, that’s okay. There will be a replay for those who miss it.

What kinds of stitches will the blocks include? The blocks will be mostly texture-based, which means you’ll want to use yarn that will show the texture of your stitches. Some blocks will feature cables, others will feature slipped stitches. You’ll find simple stitches (like knits, purls and yarn-overs in Block One), and others will be more complex. Each block includes a special theme and a message about the inspiration for the block. For example, Block One is called A Fresh Start; it features tidy boxes of purl details on a background of stockinette stitch, and it’s inspired by the New Year when we get everything in order and organized for a great start.
